Biography

Graeme is a Toronto-based independent consultant, providing services in recruitment, human resources, change management, career counselling and stakeholder relations.

Prior to launching his own consultancy, Graeme held the position of Director of Human Resources at the Canadian Diabetes Association, a $70M non-profit health organization with 900 unionized and non-union staff across Canada, with corporate, wholesale, research, retail, publishing, call centre, camping, government relations and public education operations. In this position, Graeme managed the team that oversaw all employee/labour relations, recruitment and HR metrics, as well as advising the executive team on issues concerning professional volunteers.

Graeme holds a Bachelors in Business with joint specialty in Human Resources and Public Relations and is a Certified Human Resources Professional.  He has been managing executive and high-volume recruitment for over ten years in the not-for-profit, healthcare and hospitality sectors, in Canada and the United Kingdom.  Having worked in private enterprises and the public and charitable sectors, he balances bottom line-focus with consensus-building skills.

In 2011 Graeme demonstrated thought leadership through professional speaking engagements, including “Conversational Interviews – Matching Candidates and Roles” for PAVR-O and “Career Planning for Fundraisers” for the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  In 2012, Graeme published “The Numbers Behind Diversity” in Canadian HR Reporter, the trade journal for Human Resources professionals.  In 2013, he was invited to guest lecture on employee rights and discipline at the York University School of Human Resources Management.

He is also on the Board of Directors and is actively involved with ALS Canada.
